About Fighters and Lovers

Fighters+Lovers – Very Short Version

Fighters+Lovers works on the borderline between fashion, culture and politics. F+L is a brand, a cloth company and a record label. In an unjust world F+L stands up for solidarity and the right to fight for freedom. These years this right is under severe pressure: Political activism is thrown under suspicion and increased surveillance.

F+L produces funky street wear, solidarity accessories and cultural events. F+L is actively working with solidarity with the two movements PFLP in Palestine and FARC in Colombia. F+L believes that PFLP and FARC are neither angels nor demons, but people who legitimately are fighting against the illegal Israeli occupation and the brutal Colombian regime respectively.

Fighters+Lovers – The Short Version

In January 2006 Fighters+Lovers was established and launched a collection of T-shirts in the colours mango, fuchsia and white under the slogan ‘Look Great And Stand Up For Freedom’. The collection generated a great deal of attention and had more than 600 orders from almost all continents and made headlines on both BBC and Al-Jazeera. In 2007 F+L launched a new collection including leaflets on PFLP and FARC, lighters and the music record Cumbia Clash.

The fundamental philosophy of F+L is that all human beings have the right to resist occupation forces and oppressive regimes. Therefore 5 Euro of every sold T-shirt from the 2006 collection is supposed to be transferred to the struggle for freedom. F+L believe strongly in communication and will therefore transfer the money to the establishment of a radio station in Colombia operated by FARC and a poster workshop in Palestine operated by PFLP.

Both FARC and PFLP are on the EU terror list. On this terror list the EU makes no distinctions between terrorism and legitimate struggle for freedom. The EU terror list is a political document that has no judicial validity in Denmark. Through its products and communication projects F+L challenges the Danish terror-legislation that threatens our democratic liberties. This means that the core of the F+L project is civil disobedience. F+L stresses that the struggle for freedom should not be criminalised and that the solidarity with freedom fighters is legitimate.
